Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second

It was with the greatest sadness that I learnt of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 8 September 2022.

We send our deepest condolences to the Royal family and wish them strength during this sad period. Her Majesty visited Waverley on several occasions, and she will no doubt be remembered fondly by all who met her. Read more about showing your respect here.

I have sent a letter of letter of condolence to The Royal Family on behalf of the borough of Waverley:

"On behalf of the people of Waverley I would like to offer my deepest sympathy to His Majesty the King and members of the Royal Family following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. "Her Majesty the Queen was cherished and greatly admired by the people of Britain and the Commonwealth, and throughout the world. She will be sorely missed. "The memory of her selflessness, her dedication to duty and her steadfast loyalty to her family and country will remain with us all and act as an example in the years ahead."

The Union Flag at the Waverley Borough Council Offices in Godalming and green flags around the Borough will be lowered to half-mast. There will be a book of condolence available at Waverley Borough Council Offices, Godalming Museum, and the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul in Godalming.

Further details of the commemorations for Britain's longest-serving monarch and the proclamation of His Majesty King Charles III can be found here on Waverley Borough Council's website: Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second.
