#LestWeForget - We Will Remember...

Today marks the anniversary of the end of the First World War in 1918. The 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month. The end of a long and bloody conflict and sadly not the last that the world has witnessed.

More than 100 years on since that dreadful war there have sadly been many more wars and many more have died. In tribute to them we stand here today, in silence to remember and honour those that have died in war and in service to this country. A time to pause and a time to reflect. As Mayor of Waverley and on behalf of the people of this borough we acknowledge their sacrifice: We will remember them...

I am honoured to have led the tributes and a two minutes silence today at The Burys, Godalming - more tributes will be paid across the borough on Remembrance Sunday in honour of those who have served their country in armed conflict.

As the borough’s first citizen, I will lead the tributes at a Service of Remembrance at the War Memorial - High Street, Haslemere. The ceremony will be streamed live at www.facebook.com/haslemeretowncouncil.
