Mayor of Waverley's Civic Service

I was very thankful to Rector Chris Bessant, for all his help in arranging my Civic Service as Mayor of Waverley on Sunday, 3 October at St Bartholomew's Church in Haslemere.

It was lovely to meet and greet the Deputy Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey, Commander Susan Lochner, Mayors from around county and Waverley, guests and local dignitaries.

Thank you also to the Choir of St Bartholomew’s School who sang two songs, one of which was ‘The School Song’ - which was beautifully done.

As well as making my promises of office, I also pledged to support my three chosen charities - a Place To Be, Youth Group in Haslemere which works to provide an inclusive space for young children, Hydestile Wildlife Hospital in Hydestile and Skillway which provides training for young people. All are deserving local charities that I have known over the years.

For the remainder of my Mayoral year I want to support all our hard working volunteers, that year after year ensure all our community buildings and vulnerable citizens are provided with the help and assistance they desperately need. Without this army of volunteers we would be a much poorer Borough.

Thank you to those who attended the service and to everyone who continues to support me.
